Autumn Term 2021

Dolphins trip to Delaware outdoor centre. We went climbing and Canadian Canoeing.
Autumn Term displays inspired by the Impressionist artists Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh plus our Wow wall celebrating our Stars of the Week.
Science - Evaporation.
The children investigated evaporation by placing wet socks in different areas around the school. They weighed the socks at various stages and recorded their results.
Harvest Festival.
The school visited the parish church to take some gifts of food and two harvest loaves that they had baked. They were welcomed by the vicar who talked to them about a Christian harvest festival and their gifts were displayed at the altar. They also hung some artwork and poetry from the prayer tree.
The class had a visit from Daya. She talked to them about Hinduism and they had the opportunity to dress up in traditional Indian clothing and practise some Indian dance, followed by chappati making and eating some potato curry.
Roadford Lake Trip.
As part of our topic about water we visited the ranger, Sammy Brisdon, who took the children to search for invertebrates in the reservoir and encouraged them to think about human impact on the aquatic environment.
Cognition Learning.
As part of our work with Cognition Learning, the children investigated electrical circuits.
The Gingerbread School and the Tomte Christmas.
As part of our Christmas fun, Teija Buchanan joined us and helped the children create an amazing Finnish gingerbread school. They also made some Scandinavian Tomtes to take home.
