Early Years Foundation Stage

The EYFS curriculum recognises that children learn best through play and active learning.

At St. Breward Primary School, your child will be taught the development areas of the EYFS through hands-on, practical activities that promote the characteristics of effective learning; engagement, motivation and thinking.

Your child will have daily phonics, literacy and maths lessons.  They would have access to continuous provision, which is where they have a variety of opportunities for child-initiated play to enrich their learning achieved during lessons. We also offer a wide variety of outdoor learning opportunities e.g.  water, sand and large bricks.

Our continuous provision area is divided up into different areas to meet all areas of children's learning. We provide a fantastic role play area, maths area, construction, writing table, small world, fine motor/malleable, sand/water play, outdoor area, computers/IT, reading area, and an understanding the world area.  All of these areas are designed to allow all children to develop their learning further.
