At St Breward School PE very important to us, we aim to ensure pupils are physically active and lead a healthy lifestyle.
Our P.E. lessons are varied and fast paced. The children take part in a range of games, dance, gymnastics and swimming activities. We aim to provide the children with a range of additional sports and activities such as climbing, surfing, lacrosse, street dance and kick boxing.
We regularly attend inter school festivals to promote fair play, sportsmanship, developing skills and promoting a love for sport. These festivals also benefit staff through high quality CPD opportunities.
After schools are well attended by a range of children. This year we have provided netball, rugby, football and dance after school clubs.
To encourage children to be as active as possible throughout the school day, we have morning active breaks including wake and shake, team games, daily mile and key skill activities,
Sports leaders are excellent role models and valuable members of the school. They help to promote physical activity and sports throughout the school. The leaders arrange games and activities for all ages during break times and lunch times. Sports leaders feedback pupils voice during regularly meeting with Miss Simpson and help to make decisions regarding after school clubs, sports day and maintain the sports board to provide relevant information to pupils.
The school provides swimming lessons for children in YR4, 5 and 6. The children attend Camelford leisure centre weekly for 6 weeks. We are passionate about helping all children to meet the expectation to swim 25m by the end of key stage 2.
Miss Simpson is our PE coordinator and is very proud of the positive attitude presented by the children towards PE and sport. Our small school make a big effort to engage with and enjoy PE.
