🦋 Butterflies 🦋
This week the nursery class have taken an interest in butterflies after seeing some fluttering around the garden, especially around the new flowers growing.

The children learnt what symmetry means and how to spot symmetry in their environment, such as on butterfly wings and on their face!

We learnt the life cycle of a butterfly and how a small caterpillar (sometimes dull in colour) can turn into something bigger and beautiful with many different colours!

🌻Sunflowers 🌻
This week in the nursery, the Turtles Class have been exploring and discovering sunflowers and learning and understanding the process of how the sunflower grows.

Using our knowledge of how tall a sunflower can grow, we have made a sunflower height chart to see which one of us is the tallest!

Hopefully, our own sunflower seeds will grow just as tall!!

🌷After a lovely Easter holidays, the nursery is back and enjoying the spring weather. This week we have been exploring and discovering all about the springtime flowers that are starting to grow in our gardens and around the village.
Learning about flowers offers a unique opportunity for children to learn about the natural world, including plant biology and life cycles. Engaging with flowers can also stimulate a child's curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Flowers have a calming effect on children's minds, which helps increase their concentration and focus. Studies have shown that exposure to natural elements, such as flowers and plants, can reduce stress and anxiety, leading to improved attention spans. By integrating flowers into the learning environment, children can develop better focus, making it easier for them to absorb new information and concepts.🌷

🐰Happy Easter🐰
The nursery has ended the busy Spring term by celebrating Easter with a wide range of fun activities including making chocolate nests and having an Easter Egg hunt on the field.

Easter is a great way to develop children's understanding of new seasons and the environmental changes which take place. Easter symbolises new life and growth, which can easily be seen in the immediate environment around school and home.

🐷 This week Turtles Class have been reading and exploring the traditional tale of The Three Little Pigs. This story is a perfect way of teaching the children all about the importance of hard work and dedication as well as exploring emotions and feelings.
Our outdoor learning session was spent searching for natural materials that we experimented with "huffing and puffing" as if we were the big, bad wolf and seeing if we could blow them down! 🐷

🍃 This term the nursery class are starting their new Outdoor Learning programme. This type of learning can help children develop social skills, physical skills, and emotional resilience. It can also help them learn about the natural world and develop a respect for it as well as develop a positive impact on the environment.

Research shows that outdoor learning can improve mental and physical health and wellbeing.

This week, the children experimented with mark making and creating patterns using natural materials found in and around the field and playground. 🍃

As we start a new half term, Turtles Class have started to learn and explore all about autumn. Autumn provides the perfect opportunity to teach our young children about seasonal change. The outside during autumn seems to hold a new level of intrigue for children as they explore the fallen leaves, notice new natural objects such as pinecones and acorns, and become more in tune with the wildlife around them.

We proudly celebrated Remembrance Day, teaching the children about the significance of our history as well as having an opportunity to foster a sense of gratitude, empathy and respect for those who have served and those who serve today.
