🦸♂️ Superheroes 🦹
In Turtles, we love learning about superheroes and using our imaginations to become heroes too!
We talked about famous superheroes like Hulk and Captain America, and discussed what makes them special. The children shared ideas about superpowers such as flying, super strength, or turning invisible, and then we discussed real life superpowers like kindness, sharing and helping our friends.
We drew pictures of our own superheroes, designed and made masks and made Captain America shield pizzas.
Learning about superheroes helps us build confidence, teamwork, and creativity whilst having lots of fun!!

👑 Kings, Queens and Dragons 🐉
Following on from our initial topic of Castles, the children have evolved their interest and learning on to the sub-topics of Kings and Queens and dragons.
Through stories, role play, art, and small-world activities, they have enjoyed dressing up as royalty, making their own crowns, decorating dragon eggs, and creating their own dragons using different materials.
We’ve been developing their language skills by learning new words linked to the topic, sharing ideas, and listening to traditional tales.
The children have also practised important early skills such as turn-taking, imagination, fine motor control, and cooperation as they played and created together.

🏰 Castles 🏰
Over the next half term, Turtles Class will be exploring the exciting and magical topic of Castles.
Through stories, role play, art and hands-on activities, the children will learn about what castles are, who lived in them, and why they were built.
We will develop key skills across all areas of learning by building and designing castles, exploring knights, kings and queens, and using imaginative play to create our own castle adventures.
This topic will support language development, creativity, problem solving and understanding of the past, while encouraging curiosity and teamwork in a fun and engaging way.

The children enjoyed pumpkin painting and collaging, using bright colours and their imaginations to decorate their pumpkins. This activity encouraged creativity, fine motor skills, and self-expression.
During pumpkin sensory play, the children scooped out seeds and pulp, describing how it felt—slimy, smooth, or squishy! This activity supported language development and sensory awareness.
The children compared different pumpkins by weight and size. They used balance scales to see which pumpkin was heavier or lighter and talked about which ones were big, small, tall, or round.

We have been recognising and identifying shapes that make up a tractor (such as circles, squares and rectangles) with our 2D shape tractor collages.
We have recognised that different tractor tyres and sizes make different treads when driving them through paint, making different patterns on the paper.
Throughout this week exploring everything tractors, the children's vocabulary and language has broadened and developed with new words learnt such as "harrow", "seed drill" and "plough".

As we start a new half term, Turtles Class have started to learn and explore all about autumn. Autumn provides the perfect opportunity to teach our young children about seasonal change. The outside during autumn seems to hold a new level of intrigue for children as they explore the fallen leaves, notice new natural objects such as pinecones and acorns, and become more in tune with the wildlife around them.
We proudly celebrated Remembrance Day, teaching the children about the significance of our history as well as having an opportunity to foster a sense of gratitude, empathy and respect for those who have served and those who serve today.
