St Breward Community Primary School

Pupil Premium Info

Our intention at St Breward Primary School, is for all children, regardless of the background they face, make good progress and achieve high attainment across all subject areas. Our pupil premium strategy focuses on supporting disadvantaged
children to achieve that goal

Using our Pupil Premium funding, we aim to break the link between poverty and destiny.

Our ultimate aim is that all of our pupils including those in receipt of the Pupil Premium grant, fulfil their potential and are confident and ready for the next phase of their education.

This page outlines what the Pupil Premium is and how you can find out if your child is entitled to it.

What is Pupil Premium?

The government provides additional funding to schools to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

We receive pupil premium funding for: children that are in care or adopted from care; children whose parents are in the armed forces; children currently receiving free school meals* and all children who have received free school meals at some point during the past 6 years.

*All pupils in Reception and Key Stage 1 are entitled to free school meals but this DOES NOT mean that they receive Pupil Premium funding. It is therefore vital that parents/carers apply for Pupil Premium funding if they feel that their child is entitled to it.

Who can apply?

Your child may be eligible for free school meals if you (or the child themselves in their own right) is in receipt of any of the following benefits:

  • Income Support (IS)
  • Job Seekers' Allowance (Income-Based) and equal based Job Seekers Allowance.
  • Income Related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA-IR) and equal based Employment and Support Allowance.
  • Child Tax Credit (CTC) with an Annual income of less than £16,190.
  • Guarantee Element of Pension Credit (GPC)
  • Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (IAA) Support
  • Universal Credit
